Friday's Blog- January 13



This week, I am half way through my last book, Mindset by, Carol S. Dweck, PH.D. I read 101 pages and I have 144 pages left to read. In total I will have read 1,003 pages this quarter. I have improved by 116 pages, given last quarter I read a total of 887 pages.


Below is my last vocabulary words of this quarter.


Vocabulary Words


Grapple- (pg. 2) to hold or make fast to something, as with a grapple.


Toiled- (pg. 2) hard and continuous work; exhausting labor or effort.


Vignette- (pg. 8) a decorative design or small illustration used on the title page of a book or at the beginning or end of a chapter; an engraving, drawing, photograph, or the like that is shaded off gradually at the edges so as to leave no definite line at the border.


Cultivated- (pg. 14) prepared and used for raising crops; tilled; educated; refined; cultured.


Amateur- (pg. 28) a person who engages in a study, sport, or other activity for pleasure rather than for financial benefit or professional reasons.                                           


Coarser- (pg. 31) of or relating to a topology on a topological space whose open sets are included among the open sets of a second specified topology on the space.


Plodding- (pg. 39) to walk heavily or move laboriously; trudge.


Deficiency- (pg. 42) lacking some element or characteristic; defective.


Condemn- (pg. 45) to express an unfavorable or adverse judgment on; indicate strong disapproval of; censure.


Voraciously- (pg. 46) craving or consuming large quantities of food.
